An increasing number of people find Buddhism to be compatible with Christianity, and are using meditation as a tool to deepen their Christian practice and faith. What do you think about this sort of hybridity or intermixing? What is your own experience?

An intriguing article about the issue of "authenticity" in Buddhism as it travels to the West:

In Buddhism, it pays to leave assumptions at the door

Anxiety about what Buddhism 'really' is has followed it around for centuries. It's a mental habit Buddhist teaching warns us of.

Hi again. OK. I think it's a good time to move on to the next reading. This is a great introduction to the Pali Canon's medical perspective:

As usual, please post thoughts, comments, questions, etc.

I should also mention that in contemporary Thailand, you can see parts of the Pali, Chinese, Tibetan, and Sanskrit story all being mixed together. For example, I've seen Thai websites that tell about Jivaka using a magic gem to see the insides of his patient's bodies (this is from the Chinese, and is not in the Pali). I think in contemporary Thailand, all these Jivaka stories have been mashed together. There are also all kinds of other stories that are not from the scriptures that are told. For example, I've heard stories about "when Jivaka visited Thailand", etc.
